NASCAR competition

Alright...where are all my NASCAR fans? We have a competition for you. Don't worry if you don't follow the sport very much or at all, you are still more than welcome to compete. Each week you will pick your driver and you will be assigned points based on where your driver finishes that week. The driver that finishes 1st will receive 43 points, 2nd 42 points...last 1 point. The next week, whoever finishes with the least amount of points will get to pick their driver first. At the end of the season we will give out some nice prizes.

EX: 20 people compete...person 1 picks gordon, 2 dale jr, 3 harvick, 4 martin, 5 busch etc...results from week 1....1) no name 2) harvick 3) no name 4) martin 5) dale jr....23) busch...43) gordon

Person 1 would receive 1 point for picking gordon, Person 2 would receive 39 points for dale jr, Person 3 would receive 42 points for harvick, Person 4 would receive 40 points for martin, and Person 5 would receive 21 points.

For week 1 it will be first come first serve to pick your driver. So please respond to this post if you are interested with you driver selection for week 1. After week 1, I will open up picks starting Saturday morning and you must wait until the person has picked before you so we need full participation. If you do not pick a driver for the week you will be assigned the worst driver based on poll results (ex: no selection = 43rd starting position for the race, if that driver has been picked then 42nd starting position and so on). All picks must be in before the start of the race. In the even that the race is on Saturday, I will open up picks starting on Friday.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. I am definitely not a NASCAR officianado, but I do follow the sport a decent amount and can help answer most questions. GET THOSE PICKS IN!

Thank you Clarke for doing this. We had a ball with this year before last and am glad to see it going again. Last contest we had an autographed car to be given away. I am sure that over the next few months we can gather up some stellar prizes. You actually can start picking your driver for the next race as soon as clarkes82 gets the results up. This usually happens sometime Sunday night or Monday. Remember, that if you have a first or early pick, that everyone is waiting on you, so be sure and check the results and get your picks in early as you can. Also, you can not change your pick once you have made it. so don't go into your post and edit anything after you have picked your driver. There are still lots of top drivers left to pick from this week and it's anybody's race in NASCAR, so let's pick them drivers and Vroom, Vroom, turn to the left.

Yeah, just like he fell asleep in practice the other day. He is one of my faves but I swear he does stuff on purpose to sabotage himself.

That was the Nationwide race today. Nascar runs through the whole weekend. Friday usually kicks it off with the trcuk race, which was awesome last night by the way. Then it is the Nationwide series on Saturday, its kinda like a minor league (Triple A) thing where most of the newer drivers cut their teeth. Some of the veteran drivers like Junior and Edwards will race in that series all season also. Then on Sunday its the Sprint series, the major league of racing if you will, thats when we will use our driver list. Time to time throughout the season the truck series and Nationwide series will be at a different track than the Sprint series. Some times the Sprint series will be on Saturday nights on particular tracks. I hope this helps a little Jay. By the way, the best race I have ever went to is Bristol. Very short track and very entertaining.

BIG CRASH! About 30 laps into the thing, and with almost every car either pushing or pulling, we had a major crash involving about 10 or 12 cars. I know my guy, Johnson, took a lick. Gordon was banged up. bunch of others. Some are in the garage getting repairs others out totally. Running under caution for the fourth time. Anybody's race for sure.

Well my Driver is still in!!!! Go Dale Jr!!!!!!!!! I told you that Dale is going to be a sleeper!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
