    Montero for Pineda

    http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/stor...da-source-says

Do you think this lowers or raise Montero's value in the hobby? How about Pineda? His cards are already selling well.

    I just love this statement:

    ...phenom pitcher Michael Pineda...
The definition of Phenom: a person of phenomenal ability or promise

Hope he has "promise", because his record and ERA last year of 9-10 / 3.74 is NOT what I would consider phenomenal! (not being a trouble maker, just stating the facts).

Put the record aside considering he pitched for the Mariners who had the worst offensive team in baseball, ERA not bad considering in the AL and a rookie. Also, 173 Ks in only 171 innings and only a 1.10 WHIP. With the Yankees bats behind him, no telling what he might be able to do

Probably a good trade for both sides. Looks like Seattle was rich in starters and the Yankees were rich in catchers. No doubt that the Mariners were desperate for some offense with a terrible run production record last year.

Saw this writeup and thought I'd share it:

The eBay blitzkrieg for Pineda's cards is in full effect. 2011 Bowman autographs that were collecting dust at $30 Buy It Now prices are flying off the shelves for upwards of $60 each...This is what happens when a good young player gets traded from baseball purgatory to the most successful franchise in MLB history.
The last sentence says it all!

Bad trade for the Yankees IMO. Montero was going to be their new face of the franchise after Derek Jeter retires, and they traded him for a decent pitcher, who showed signs of inconsistency last year.
