As reported by ESPN, and all the other Networks, and Sport News Agencies:

Vice President Joe Biden got his San Francisco pro sports teams mixed up at the wrong time Wednesday.

Biden told attendees at a Bay Area campaign stop that "the Giants are on their way to the Super Bowl." According to the Oakland Tribune, the gaffe drew a "good-natured" round of boos.

Joe Biden got a rise out of his San Francisco audience by saying "Giants" when he should have said "49ers."

The VP tried to control the damage by saying he's accustomed to talking about the baseball Giants and their successes. He apologized, and then correctly cited the 49ers on his second attempt.

The Niners and football Giants will square off in Sunday's NFC Championship game at Candlestick Park.

When they were campaining in 2008, obama was in pennsylvania telling the crowd he was rooting for the phillies while biden was in florida telling people he was rooting for the rays

Heck no... I want my politicians paying close attention to sports. I want congressional hearings to discuss steroid use in baseball. I want to see my President spend a lot of time working on his March Madness bracket.

The more time they spend on that, the less time they have to get in the way and mess anything more up.
